BILLING METERS

Sewer Billing Meters are the cash registers of wastewater treatment plants. Just like in any business transaction, the customer (in this case the municipality) does not want to be overcharged for the service and the service provider (in this case the treatment facility) cannot undercharge and remain in business profitably. This is why it is so important to both parties that when the cash register rings, the charge for the service provided is unquestionably accurate. A 10% error in flow measurement at a 1MGD treatment facility will result in over- charges or under billings of more than $100,000 per year.

HYBRID TECHNOLOGY

The Accuron CrossFire (pat. pend.) couples WinFlume computer aided Hydraulic Structure design with high accuracy Custody Transfer technology. Today, multipath transit-time flow meters are the first choice for custody transfer applications in the oil and natural gas industry.

Measurement of minimal flows

Measurement of minimal flows is accomplished through Bureau of Reclamation WinFlume Hydraulic Structure technology supported by NIST traceable Flow Lab design confirmation.

Measurement of average to maximum flows

Measurement of average to maximum flows is accomplished through dual path transit- time technology specifically developed for custody transfer of hydrocarbons.

Measurement of non-uniform flows

Measurement of non-uniform flows is accomplished through crossed path transit-time technology specifically developed for the custody transfer of natural gas.

Open Channel Flow Monitoring

UNDER ALL CONDITIONS

Low Flow

Low Flow

During periods of minimal flow (Zero to 1/3 pipe I.D.), measurements are achieved through a highly efficient combination of a trapezoidal flume and ultrasonic level sensor. (see detail at right >)

High Flow

High Flow

During periods of maximum flow (1/3 to full pipe I.D.), measurements are achieved through proven area-velocity methods that combine an ultrasonic level sensor with transit-time velocity sensors.

Non-Uniform Flow

Non-Uniform Flow

Dual Path Cartridge Meters provide for highly accurate measurement of average velocity under asymmetrical, surcharged, and backflow conditions.

Surcharge Flow

Surcharge Flow

An optional non-contact Surcharge Monitor provides for continuous measurement of accurate flow data during intermittent periods of surcharged conditions.

Reverse Flow

Reverse Flow

Reverse flows, during abnormal or surcharge conditions, are measured by the bi-directional transit-time velocity sensors in combination with a single or dual level sensor.

Stagnation

Stagnation

In the event of a blockage or stoppage of flow, the velocity sensors will report a “zero flow” condition.

LOW FLOW MEASUREMENT

Low Flow

Low Flow

A casual investigation of collection system flow studies conducted by municipalities, government agencies and private engineering groups will quickly confirm that in 95% of the cases, the average flow in a sanitary sewer is only 30% - 40% of the pipe diameter with nighttime flows hovering around 5% - 10% of pipe I.D. This fact alone provides indisputable proof of the current need for a highly accurate Flow Meter capable of measuring flows under extremely low conditions.

PIPE I.D. FLOW
LOW FLOW CAPABILITY

The low flow capability of the trapezoidal flume/level sensor design was proven within Eastech’s in-house NIST traceable Flow Metrology Lab when technicians were able to accurately (±2-3%) ascertain flows of 3 GPM within an 8” I.D. pipe.

BILLING METERS

Eastech combines two highly accurate and proven technologies within a single dual range unit. Low flows are consistently measured by an extremely reliable stainless steel trapezoidal flume/Teflon® level sensor combination. Higher flows are accurately ascertained by combining the same Teflon level sensor with a dual pair of non-fouling transit-time velocity sensors.

DUAL RANGE FLOW CAPABILITY

LOW RANGE (Hydraulic Structure)

Below the Crossover Point (1/3 pipe), the volume of flow is measured by a trapezoidal flume and level sensor utilizing U.S. Bureau of Reclamation flume equations.

HIGH RANGE (Area-Velocity)

Above the Crossover Point (1/3 pipe), the volume of flow is measured by a pair of transit-time velocity sensors and level sensor utilizing proven area-velocity measurement methods.

FACTORY PROGRAMMED FLOWMETERS

Pre-programmed at the factory for specific customer applications, the Accuron flowmeter is a highly advanced microprocessor-based ultrasonic flow transmitter for extremely precise measurement of flow in open channels.

DATA LOGGING
The Accuron has a built-in datalogger with eight distinct channels for logging flow and totals.
Daily Averages: Daily summary allows viewing of the previous eight days.
Logger Graph: In addition, a bar graph may be visually displayed on the Accuron.
Data Retrieval: Logger data can be collected by using a laptop computer or an optional modem installed within the Accuron enclosure.
